annual exhibition Art Academy Düsseldorf (Rundgang der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf) 2013

Last week (from february 20th to 24th) the annual open day exhibition of the Art Academy Düsseldorf took place again and of course I didn`t want to miss it. I went there on sunday, along with the "who is who" of Düsseldorf (in their fur coats ^^)... meaning it was very crowded.

All in all it didn`t take me long to go through the whole exhibition, despite the enourmous amount of artworks in this big building:

Here and there I saw drawings/paintings or sculptures I personally found appealing or more or less fascinating but altogether there wasn`t much that in my oppinion (+ taste) was very surprising or unusual... I added some of the artworks which interested me in one way or the other below in this post...

But why don`t you develop your own opinion: you can see almost ALL art works of the exhibition here. 

Letzte Woche (20.02.-24.02.2013) fand wieder der jährliche Rundgang der Kunstakademie Düsseldorf statt, das konnte ich mir natürlich auch nicht entgehen lassen. Ich bin am Sonntag hingegangen und alles was in Düsseldorf Rang und Namen (und einen Pelzmantel ^^) hat war auch da... sprich es war mal wieder proppevoll. 

Alles in allem war ich trotz der unendlich vielen ausgestellten Werke recht schnell durch: es gab hier und da Zeichnungen/Gemälde oder Skulpturen die ich ansprechend und recht spannend fand, aber im Großen und Ganzen war meiner Meinung (+ Geschmack) nach nichts besonders überraschend oder ungewöhnlich... Ein Paar der Kunstwerke die mich doch auf die ein oder andere Weise interessiert haben habe ich hier unten angefügt...

Aber macht euch doch selber ein Urteil: nahezu ALLE Kunstwerke des Rundgangs könnt ihr euch hier angucken.

38th SketchCrawl in Cologne/Köln

As you know last Saturday (January 19th) the 38th SketchCrawl took place, and I had the opportunity to participate for the first time. Although it was incredibly cold outside we wanted to sketch in the Zoo in Cologne, knowing that there are several animal "houses" were we could  draw inside (you can`t draw when you are shaking!)... we were 5 Sketchers, only one of us came from Cologne, the others had to travel there. We were all quite different people but got along very well. The whole day long we sketched animals, plants and so on, and one thing became very obvious to us: calm animals are a much "better" motive than hyper active animals ^^ But practice makes perfect and we all decided to definitely participate in the next SketchCrawl, which takes place in three months.

Wie schon angekündigt fand letzten Samstag (am 19.01.) der 38te SketchCrawl statt, an dem ich zum ersten Mal teilgenommen habe. Trotz eisiger Kälte wollten wir gerne in den Kölner Zoo gehen, mit dem Wissen dass es dort auch viele Tier-"Häuser" gibt in denen man zeichnen kann, (wenn mann zittert kann man nicht zeichnen!)... wir waren zu fünft, nur einer aus Köln, alle anderen waren angereist, alle sehr unterschiedliche Menschen, haben uns aber gut verstanden. Wir haben den ganzen Tag diverse Tiere, Pflanzen u.s.w. gezeichnet und dabei vor allem eins bemerkt: chillige Tiere sind "bessere" Motive als hyperaktive Tiere ^^ Aber: Übung macht den Meister und wir haben uns auf jeden Fall alle entschlossen beim nächsten SketchCrawl wieder mit von der Partie zu sein.

38th world wide SketchCrawl

!!!The next "world wide SketchCrawl" will be taking place on January 19th!!!

A "SketchCrawl" is a certain day, several times a year, on which everyone is invited to take some time and effort to slow down and sketch their surroundings like people, buildings, nature, you-name-it... Preferably in groups but also by themselves, everyone can draw the themes that they want in the time that they need... afterwards the drawings or sketches can be shared with the rest of the world by uploading them on the internet (for example in the forum of the SketchCrawl site, on flickr or the artists`blogs, wherever you want!)... just for fun.

The director Enrico Casarosa startet this project in 2004 and since then this event has been taking place in various cities/countries at once and will now be in its 38th round.

!!!Am 19.01.2013 findet zum 38ten Mal der "world wide SketchCrawl" statt!!!

Ein Sketchcrawl ist ein bestimmter Tag, der mehrmals im Jahr ausgerufen wird, an dem alle dazu aufgefordert werden sich die Zeit und Muße zu nehmen los zu ziehen, um ihre Umgebung zu zeichnen, ob Menschen, Gebäude oder Natur... vorzugsweise in Gruppen oder auch alleine, jeder zeichnet vor sich hin und nimmt sich so viel Zeit wie er will mit den Motiven, die ihn interessieren... hinterher werden die Zeichnungen im Internet hochgeladen (auf sämtlichen Plattformen, z.B. bei SketchCrawl im Forum, auf Flickr und auch auf den Seiten/Blogs der Künstler, natürlich rein optional!!!) und so mit dem Rest der Welt geteilt... just for fun.

Erfunden hat dieses kreative Event der Regisseur Enrico Casarosa im Jahre 2004 und seitdem findet diese Veranstaltungen in diversen Städten und Ländern gleichzeitig mehrmals im Jahr statt.

Yüksel Arslan @ Kunsthalle Duesseldorf

You still have exactly 1 week remaining to take a look at the small but very good exhibition at the Kunsthalle Duesseldorf!!!

On display are drawings by the Franco-Turkish artist Yüksel Arslan, which floored me on my first visit and still inspired me on my second. 

Many of the beautiful and partialy "shocking" motives are manufactured with an attention to detail which makes you think of scientific drawings. Although this, and the fact that the artist obviously dealt with his motives in a very intense and studious way, creates a feeling of observing the work of an obsessive person, the pictures create an impression of a certain naivete. Among other things this is due to the technique he uses (and developed himself) which reminds you of coloured pencil or crayon drawings.

I don`t want to reveal too much, just check it out for yourself and be surprised! 

The exhibition will continue until the 24th of June at the Kunsthalle Duesseldorf, Grabbeplatz4, 40213 Duesseldorf.

Ihr habt noch genau 1 Woche Zeit euch schnell die kleine aber sehr feine Ausstellung in der Kunsthalle Duesseldorf anzusehen!!!

Gezeigt werden Zeichnungen des türkisch-französischen Künstlers Yüksel Arslan, die mich beim ersten Besuch echt vom Hocker gehauen und sogar beim zweiten Besuch noch total inspiriert haben. 

Viele der schönen, teils "schockierenden" Motive sind mit einer Detailgenauigkeit gefertigt die an wissenschaftliche Zeichnungen erinnert. Obwohl man aufgrund dessen und aufgrund der offensichtlich intensiven und fleißigen Auseinandersetzung mit seinen Motiven das Gefühl hat die Arbeit eines Besessenen zu sehen wirken die Bilder auf eine einzigartige Weise naiv. Das liegt unter anderem an der (von ihm selbst entwickelten) Technik, die an Buntstift- oder Wachsmalstiftzeichnungen erinnert.

Ich will gar nicht zu viel verraten, seht es euch selber an und lasst euch überraschen! 

Die Ausstellung läuft noch bis zum 24.06.2012, hier: Kunsthalle Duesseldorf Grabbeplatz4, 40213 Duesseldorf.
